Lo sceneggiatore Tony Bedard, già autore di alcuni episodi di “Legion of Super-Heroes” (vol.V), ha da poco rilasciato al sito The Pulse un’intervista promozionale a proposito del suo attuale impegno sull’insolito spin-off legionario R.E.B.E.L.S. (vol.II).
Il lungo articolo, redatto da Jennifer Contino, non dice nulla di nuovo sulla serie, nè da anticipazioni di alcun tipo sulle trame future. Si tratta più che altro di una specie di introduzione a R.E.B.E.L.S, chiaremente concepita per favorire l’ingresso a bordo da parte di eventuali nuovi lettori.
Ecco, ad esempio, come Bedard riassume le differenze tra la Legione dei Super-Eroi e la L.E.G.I.O.N. di Vril Dox II, spiegando inoltre come a partire da quest’ultimo team tragga origine il concept di fondo di R.E.B.E.L.S:
BEDARD: L.E.G.I.O.N. is set in the present-day DCU, Legion of Super-Heroes takes place 1,000 years from now. The Legion is usually led by Cosmic Boy or Lightning Lad, but they also have Brainiac 5, the good Brainiac who descended from the Superman villain. L.E.G.I.O.N. is led by Brainiac 2, who usually goes by his real name, Vril Dox. And Dox may be commander of an interstellar law enforcement network, but he is not very nice, and he’s absolutely ruthless.

BEDARD: The only thing you have to know is that at some point Dox replaced his peacekeeper troops with robots who wouldn’t question his orders. Now someone has commandeered all of Dox’s robo-troops, and he’s on the run, trying to gather a strike team to take back L.E.G.I.O.N. and to find out exactly who deposed him in the first place.
