Adventure Comics (vol. I) #503

Moving to Cunningham’s books, the editor joked that while he’s “seriously biased,” R.E.B.E.L.S. is one of DC’s best books. In regards to the upcoming Starro appearances, Cunningham said that despite all of the appearances to date, the real Starro has never been seen, but is basically a Frazetta-style conqueror. Asked if Adventure Comics will have the “shield numbering” to tie in with the Superman titles, Sattler said, “Not immediately.”

At the DC Nation panel, Dan DiDio answered a fan question about LSH being a backup feature in Adventure. His basic message was, when the title can do good enough numbers, they’ll give it its own book again. Until then, they are a “second feature” (he made a joking correction that the backups are not “backups,” they are “second features” which is totally better) and expected to do well. Also, when asked what the status of this upcoming Legion is, vis-a-vis reboots and alternate Earths, etc., he said, “This will be the Legion,” with emphasis on the “the,” suggesting that L3W is going to make future reboots unnecessary? Not sure what he was trying to accomplish there. Besides that one fan question, no mention of the LSH from the panel.

Anche “Exnihil” del forum Legion World ha preso parte alla conferenza di DiDio in quel di WizardWorld (“Wow, what a boring convention”) e il suo dettagliato resoconto conferma sostanzialmente quanto già scritto da “the HZA”:

Anyway, I […] was told that fan support is essential to bringing the Legion back to the forefront. DiDio likened this period to the post Adventure period, where the Legion played backup to Superboy until enough noise was made to give them their own title. He said that although he always sees the Legion as having a presence in the DCU, this “second feature” status will continue for a period. I followed up, asking how long he anticipated that period being and he said… very discouragingly… “could be a year, could be infinity”. Someone else asked about Legion of 3 Worlds, and he said that if you like Conner Kent, you’ll love LO3W #5.

DiDio said at Wizard World Philly Saturday that the LSH could be in the back-up for at least a year before a new title is launched.
